Youth & Schools Work

This page outlines the activities and programs run by our church to support children and youth, both within the church community and through outreach in the local area. Our work is led by Laverne Williams is our full-time Youth Lead and Schools Chaplain and is aimed at fostering spiritual growth, building relationships, and providing practical support.

Schools Outreach

  • Collective Worship: weekly sessions in local schools to explore spirituality and Christian values.
  • Play Work Lunch at Batts School: Lunchtime engagement twice a week, fostering relationships with students and staff.
  • Christian Union: Weekly meetings encouraging students to explore and live out their faith. Leadership opportunities are available for participants.
  • ACAIE Group: A forum addressing issues of diversity and unity in schools. Includes discussions and events to promote understanding.
  • Be Space: Provides students with a quiet space to reflect on faith and spirituality, often introducing these ideas for the first time.

Community Engagement

  • Hot Chocolate Programme: Weekly sessions offering a casual setting for conversations with students and parents.
  • Café Extra: A monthly youth hangout featuring games, discussions, and social interaction.

Special Initiatives

  • Summer Kick-Off: A week-long event partnering with local and international churches, focused on evangelism and community engagement. Over 80 young people participated.
  • KICK Football Program: A free, council-supported initiative providing football sessions for young people aged 12-18, fostering positive relationships and engagement.

Youth Work in the Community

  • The Station Project: Weekly outreach to connect with young people and gather input on their needs.
  • Witney Festival of Food and Drink: A community event featuring activities for youth and families, encouraging wider engagement.
