Upcoming Events
- Friday 17th January: Memorial Service for the late Peter Colville will take place at 2.00 pm at St. Mary’s Church. This will be followed by a wake in the Winchester Room of the Church. Do come and join this service to remember Peter on this day.
- Tuesday 21st January: The Book Circle will meet in the Winchester Room at St. Mary’s Church at 2.30 pm. They will be discussing ‘The Professor’ by Charlotte Bronte. Do join with them, or for further information email Bridget at bridgetmwalton@aol.com
- Wednesday 22nd January: Open Doors – Prayers for the Persecuted Church, will take place from 7.30 pm in the Winchester Room at St. Mary’s Church. We’re going to be joining in with the online World Watch List prayer event which begins at 7.30pm. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the countries where it’s most dangerous to be a Christian and pray with persecuted believers. It should last around an hour.
- Thursday 23rd January: Doyennes and Ah-Men will be meeting at 7.00 pm at San Marzano, High Street. The Italian restaurant we visited last September and enjoyed. If you would like to join us for a meal, please let us know by Monday 20th January by email to David Taft. davidrtaft@hotmail.co.uk
- Monday 27th January : Holocaust Memorial Day. January 27th marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp complex. Holocaust Memorial Day is an annual commemoration of the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. Also commemorated are millions more people murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups and in the more recent genocides recognised by the UK government, and the genocide in Darfur.
On this day there will be a prayer station in St. Mary’s all day, and Evening Prayer at 5.30 will be a special service of commemoration, lament, and commitment to a better future.
